Hello!
We’re Curio: a leading augmented and virtual reality studio specialising in digital interpretation for museums, galleries, libraries, heritage sites, academics and creative practitioners.
We’re passionate about working with enthusiastic storytellers with exciting ideas to develop and deliver innovative, high quality, audience-centred digital content and unique experiences.

About Us
Curio combines the tech expertise of our parent company Zubr with the curious creativity of Bristol’s arts scene.
Home to graffiti superstar Banksy, award-winning musicians Massive Attack and Portishead, multiple museums and art galleries, and even Oscar-winning studio Aardman Animations, Bristol is the biggest city in the south west, UK, close to the historic city of Bath.
Inspired by the rich cultural heritage around us, we push the boundaries of digital interpretation to provide visitors with new ways of seeing and experiencing art, heritage, and culture.
We work on everything from museum interactives and performance art installations to augmented social media filters or education tools, AR binoculars, 3D historically and geographically-accurate models, and even virtual events.

Our approach

Developing the idea
We’ll work with you to discover the best format and design for the story you want to tell. From blue-sky thinking to fully-funded plans, we're experts at collaborating and consulting to find a bespoke solution to serve your audience.
Make it happen
We handle the practicalities and technology so you can focus on the experience we’re crafting for your visitors. We offer multiple opportunities for testing and feedback during the project to guarantee the outcome is all you imagined.
Work and tech
Our dedicated project staff will regularly update you during development and will continue to support you post-project to ensure the experience works for your visitors. We future proof projects by making outputs that are easy for clients to maintain and that can be updated as the technology evolves.
We’ve completed over 250 projects
Tens of thousands of people in museums, galleries, science centres and theatres have enjoyed our digital experiences.
We understand the guidance
We ensure our work adheres to the Heritage Fund’s digital guidance, and can help advise you on how best to navigate it.
We’re collaborators, not suppliers
We’ll work with you to build something bespoke, as ready-made products or cookie-cutter designs are rarely the answer.
We make things open
We aim to publish all code for publicly-funded projects under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license for other organisations to build upon.
We’ll help show it off
We capture and edit a film-quality publicity video for every project we undertake, which you can use however you’d like.
We invest in our own research
We stay on the cutting edge by reinvesting 50% of our profits back into our research and development activities.
